Marty Schottenheimer was fired on Monday. Many critics questioned the timing of the move citing it would have made more sense to fire the coach before the Super Bowl or at least before allowing both the offensive and defensive coordinators to find jobs elsewhere.
After watching the Chargers blow an eight-point lead against the Patriots with 4:36 on the clock and the ball in their possession, I think we all can agree that timing and smart decisions are not the Chargers’ forte.

Michael Waltrip and the Toyota team were sanctioned by NASCAR for a mystery substance found in the intake manifold of their #55 car. The team’s crew chief will be fired and Waltrip has apologized, admitting he’s embarrassed by the whole fiasco.
Some gearhead is going to read this and kick his three-legged dog “Rusty†across the yard. (Okay, who am I kidding? Gearheads don’t read…) Meanwhile, the rest of the normal sport-viewing public will collectively ask, “You can cheat in auto racing?â€Â Then we’ll shrug and go back to caring about sports with legitimate athletes.
